Hi Ulrike!! Thank you for your question :) The breath pattern in Friendly Spirit the inspired from the 3 Part Breath practice. Inhale from belly to chest, exhaling from chest to belly, this being said, you can explore other breathing patterns such as the one you were taught. The three part practice is designed to enhance breath awareness, capacity, and to be grounding and calming. But feel into both patterns for yourself to explore the effects you experinece physically, sensationally, mentally etc!! It's all an exploration.
